What K&K Has Done

Since 2005, Powell Butte Christian Church has been working with the people from two very remote, impoverished villages, Kaplobotwo and Kabacheriya. What started with and evangelistic meeting and then some medical camps has grown into a long-term partnership.

Pastor Michael Chemonges and his wife, Phylis, had a heart for the children of these villages from the very beginning. Their dream was to build a school, so children could be educated and bring change to their communities. This was not an easy process, but they started to hold classes for the children in makeshift wood and grass structures. But, in 2014, the first two school buildings were constructed and the school was officially launched. By the end of 2014, Amazing Grace Primary partnered with Hope Africa International to begin a sponsorship program, with 48 children sponsored that year.

Enos was one of these first children to be sponsored, when he was only in Primary 2. His family life was very difficult as his mother struggled with mental illness, and then eventually, his father abandoned his wife and five children. They suffered greatly without anyone to help them make it through each day. But Enos and his siblings were not left alone, as Mike and Phylis continually ministered to this family and made sure they were at school.

Enos is in Secondary 2 (High School) now and is able to pursue his dreams because of the faithful investment of his sponsor and the encouragement of the K&K staff and teachers. The outcome for Enos and his siblings would have been very bleak, but because of all these loving people, they have hopeful futures as they pursue their dreams.

You can be part of providing hopeful futures to children at K&K this month on Giving Tuesday, November 28th. Learn more below about how Giving Tuesday will benefit K&K Schools.
