When Night Falls
Pamela’s mother has faced years of hardship and pain most of us could not imagine.
It all started when she married a much older man who already had a wife. He had a good job as a private surveyor, so the family relocated to Jinja, about 4 hours away from their home.
The days of marriage were difficult as this man treated her with cruelty, violence ruled in this home. Pamela’s mother would often leave the family to escape the pain she faced, and there were times when she would be gone for a year. She always returned eventually, because of her children.
When Pamela’s father passed away, her mother soon discovered that their rent in Jinja had not been paid for a long time. In addition, he had mortgaged their property, leaving his wife and children with substantial debt.
The mother and children returned to their home village, seeking hope and healing from years of instability. Unfortunately, her in-laws started to torture her, doing anything they can to frighten her in the middle of the night, hoping that she will leave her property behind for them to grab.
I had the privilege of meeting Pamela in January, knowing that she has a heartbreaking story. We believe that sponsorship would bring so much hope to this vulnerable family, helping Pamela to grow in her knowledge of God’s grace and mercy.
